Art Lit training today for artist James Lavadour... Interesting project with crayon "under-drawing" and tempera paint applied & removed from the top. This is supposed to be Grandma & Grandpa Shelley's pond in Massachusetts...a magical place for us when we were growing up!

As YW Secretary, the beginning of the new year is a bit of a headache with switching out all the old calendars, rosters, lists, etc for the new from both all of the adult leadership binders as well as the youth leadership...23 binders in all. I did have fun though creating this image for the new theme for the year.

Our good friends the Baks invited us to join them for son David's baptism...all the boys are good friends (and that's Eric Jensen on the left...then Ian & David Bak, and we know the last 3 hooligans...not pictured is Jared Bak.)

Benno did not enjoy skating. But the rest of us had a great time...and several old friends were there too (well, old might not be the right word...they used to be in our ward but the boundaries were just changed a few months ago.)

In preparation for New Year's Eve, the traditional Greek New Year's cake--George's family usually makes a Tsoureki but I used a Vasilopita recipe specifically which turned out really tasty (and was so easy to make.)

Ok, I'm cheating a little...this is from Saturday night actually but I didn't have an appropriate Sunday pic. We went to see Zoolights at the Oregon Zoo...pretty fun and the crowds weren't too big for once.

With the Bennions we delivered plates of goodies with Christmas cards as we caroled to our neighbors. We ventured beyond the cul-de-sac to admire the lights at this house which looked SO cool in the snow!

Church cancelled for the 2nd week in a row... We were a little stir-crazy and cabin-fever-ish after 8 days straight of cancellations of church & school & activities so we ventured off for lunch with the Garzas and then later on had the Bennions over for dinner (at Chez Nous, no less!)

The biggest snowstorm of the entire week hit today...we got somewhere between 8-12 inches (hard to say with the wind blowing it all over). We took the boys out sledding and had fun...at least until we got separated and Aaron hit his leg on a post and we started to freeze and didn't know where George was and at last trudged back to where we left the car originally, and miraculously George showed up at just the moment I walked up (totally attributable to the Holy Ghost.) But truly, we had fun.

Yet another snow day with the boys home from school. Fortunately I'd picked up a little gingerbread house kit on Saturday before the snowstorms hit. It was a fun activity to keep the boys occupied for the afternoon. I like Benno at work on puzzles there in the background.

Church was cancelled because of this snow. No big deal to most people in normal wintry places but around here, this teeny bit of snow is enough to bring the world to a halt, as it did today.

Anthony's first ever gymnastics meet!!! He did really great. I love this photo too of him racing down toward the vault with his teammates lined up behind. Great group of boys, great coach...I can't say enough good things about it all.

Aaron with his gingerbread house which he decorated at school in his class...he did a fabulous job! 5 min after this photo was taken, he'd eaten about 50% of the candy off already.

One of my absolute favorite Christmas decor items...my Willow Tree nativity set, which was my Christmas gift for a few years in a row as I slowly collected the different parts... LOVE IT.

Ok, since I'd fallen behind on my photos, this technically didn't happen until a couple days later but that was a busy day so I'll use it here instead. My gift request this year was for a "real" tree rather than our old artificial one. I like how that guy stuck his head in our photo, ha-ha.
